If you need urgent health advice, please call NHS 111

Please be aware we are exceptionally busy at the moment. For those patients who don’t require urgent medical attention, remember you can seek advice from the NHS 111 helpline, your pharmacist or your doctor.

For the Coventry Urgent Treatment Centre call 02476 964199.

Switchboard: 02476 964000

Please ring switchboard with any general queries. Please do not phone wards, this only delays staff from seeing patients.

We do receive a high volume of calls. If your call is not answered immediately, please be patient and we will be with you as soon as we can.

If you know the department or ward you wish to speak to, please use the numbers in the table below.

Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator for all health and social care services in England. The CQC cannot investigate individual complaints but can be contacted directly for information and advice, and to share feedback and experiences with them about health and social care services.

They can be contacted via the contact details below, but also online via their website.

Media enquiries, photography and filming requests - for journalists only

All media enquiries should be directed to the Communications Team, either by email or telephone.

We are open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Email communications@uhcw.nhs.uk

Telephone (media enquiries only):

  • 024 7696 5058
  • 024 7696 7597

For urgent enquiries outside office hours, contact the hospital switchboard on 024 7696 4000 and ask for the executive on call.

Condition checks

Condition checks will only be given out if you have at least the name, date of birth and address of the patient concerned and in cases where names have been officially released (e.g. by the Police). We reserve the right to decline comment on any condition check if we so wish in respect of patient confidentiality.

Permission to film or take photographs

If you would like to film or take photographs at one of our hospitals you must obtain permission from the Communications team first.  For documentary filming requests, we ask for a minimum of three weeks' notice.

Anyone found filming or taking photographs without permission may be asked to leave the site immediately.

Major incidents

Should a local, regional or national major incident occur, the Trust has contingency plans that include arrangements for the media.  A press centre will be established and the media will be notified on arrival at the hospital site.  The press centre will be set up for press conferences and regular updates you will be provided alongside any opportunities for interviews (when appropriate).

Depending on the type of incident, we will decide at the time whether photographs/filming will be permitted and how this will be facilitated.

We will also utilise this website and our Twitter account (@nhsuhcw) to provide the latest updates.
