First Membership Event

September 8 2010 saw UHCW open its doors to the very first members’ event, this took place at University Hospital, Coventry. 120 people attended an evening that began with a welcome by Trust Chairman, Phil Townshend, who described the work that is taking place to enable UHCW to become a Foundation Trust.

Following a number of presentations from key Trust personnel, guests were invited to a marketplace with stalls highlighting the leading work that is taking place at the Trust. The market was divided into three key zones to reflect the Trust mission of Care, Achieve and Innovate.

Within Care were several stands including one offering retinal screening by our staff. Achieve showcased a number of awards given to departments within the Trust including our Centre for Reproductive Medicine. And the Innovation zone featured the ground breaking work by Dr Richard King and an internet café set up by the Communications Team to enable visitors to use the recently updated UHCW website.

Janet White, Foundation Trust Project Director said, "These events are a great opportunity for the public we serve to get to see what we are doing and to ask senior officers of the Trust questions about the direction the Trust is taking. I would like to thank all our members who came along for helping us make it an interesting and enjoyable evening. Following demand from members, we will be repeating the event in the new year and will publicise details in our next members’ newsletter and on the Foundation Trust web pages."
