Coventry and Warwick Clinical Research Facility
Coventry and Warwick Clinical Research Facility (CRF) was established as a joint initiative between University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and Warwick Medical School. Our aim is to facilitate the translation of advances in basic biomedical research into improvements in healthcare to benefit patients.
Dedicated clinical research facilities were designed and built into the structure of the new University Hospital. These provide an excellent purpose-built environment to conduct patient-based research close to (but independent from) clinical areas and enable patients and volunteers to participate in research studies as both day and inpatients.
Coventry and Warwick CRF comprises three specialty units (the Human Metabolism Research Unit, the Biomedical Research Partnership in Reproductive Health, and the Cancer Clinical Trials Treatment Centre), six Patient Research Interface suites and the Tissue Bank (see Figure 1).
In 2010, Coventry and Warwick CRF was accredited by the NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) as an UKCRC Experimental Medicine Facility. Further information on the Coventry and Warwick CRF can be found on the UK Experimental Medicine Resource Finder or by contacting the CRF Manager, Ceri Jones (telephone 02476 966196 or email ceri.jones@uhcw.nhs.uk).
