The delivery of postgraduate education and training is recognised as an important core activity undertaken by the Trust. Fifty F1 and F2 doctors in the Coventry and Warwickshire Foundation School are based here.
We have dedicated Foundation Tutors to ensure all doctors with us receive the highest quality education and training experience. This includes supporting F2 doctors to participate in gaining a Postgraduate Award in Professional Skills from Warwick University. Two Foundation tutors supervise their education and training to ensure individuals get the most out of their training. F2 doctors are encouraged to participate fully in their formal education programme which leads to a Postgraduate Award in Professional Skills from Warwick University.
Trainee doctors
In addition the Trust employs over 200 core and specialty trainee doctors appointed by the Deanery Schools. A full range of medical and surgical specialties are available, many of which deliver subspecialty and academic training to enhance development. Each department has an educational lead that supervises the education and training programmes specifically created for trainees.
There are a number of modern, high-tech facilities to support education and training which are located in University Hospitals Clinical Sciences Building. There is access to a large modern library with IT facilities, Clinical Skills Laboratory, and Surgical Training Suite. A recent addition to our wide range of education and training facilities is a state of the art simulation suite.
In addition we have close links with Warwick Medical School where trainees are able to undertake academic courses as well as avail themselves of research opportunities. A large number of local, regional, national and international courses are run throughout the year.
