There has never been at better time to join our team as University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust is one of the largest acute care teaching facilities in the United Kingdom. UHCW is is located on two sites, University Hospital, Coventry and Hospital of St. Cross, Rugby where we provide acute and specialised care to the patients of Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond.
Our purpose built Clinical Sciences Building offers a whole range of facilities to aid your education and training including a modern library with excellent IT facilities.

Our extensive range of services affords the opportunity to work in a wide range of specialties. As well as providing general services, we are the regional centres for the following specialties:

- Renal Transplantation
- Tissue Viability
- Vascular Care
Staff Development Programme
Our nursing and midwifery teams are encouraged to extend their expertise beyond their clinical specialties via Trust-wide projects and multi-professional working. We actively involve nurses and midwives at all levels in developing practice, decision-making and research, utilising the expertise, experience and creativity of all our staff. (Professional development is supported by our dedicated Practice Facilitators).
The Trust has promoted and actively encouraged the development of Nurse-led initiatives including:
- Nurse Led clinics
- Nurse Co-ordinated discharge
- Advanced Nurse Practitioners
- Emergency Nurse Practitioners
We encourage staff to undertake professional and personal development activities including academic courses, in-house training programmes, clinical skills training, clinical supervision, coaching, work based learning and offer a range of secondments and shadowing opportunities, supported by our dedicated Practice Facilitators.
Newly Qualified Nurses
The Trust takes a proactive approach in the recruitment of newly qualified nurses with an established preceptorship programme with dedicated study days (E.g. medicines management, care of the acutely ill, patient safety, quality, leadership development) in place.
There are specialist rotation programmes available in Acute Care, and Children’s services.

Return to Practice
The Trust’s can offer clinical placements for nurses returning to practice who are a return to practice programme. The placements will be tailored to individual needs and priorities and providing you with the opportunity to update skills in a supportive environment.
