University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust supports a range of work experience placements for university and college students undertaking a professional qualification, who need to spend some time in a relevant department as part of their studies.
UHCW NHS Trust and the NHS in Coventry also offer work experience programmes to people from 14 years of age, based in a variety of different departments within University Hospital, Coventry and Hospital of St Cross in Rugby. We work with local schools across Coventry and Rugby to provide one and two week programmes, timetabled throughout the year, for Year 10 and 11 students.
NHS Insight programme
We are also able to offer NHS Insight programmes, tailored to your needs and linked to the national curriculum. For example, we can offer ‘taster’ days or longer programmes which could extend over several weeks or even a whole term.
Some of the areas where students can gain work experience include:
- Main outpatients
- Trauma Clinic
- Health Centres
- Human Resources
- Learning & Development
- Bowel Cancer Screening
- Genetics, Sickle & Thalassaemia Services
- Mental Health Services
UHCW also has a team of NHS professionals, our NHS Ambassadors, who are able to go into schools to help support the national curriculum. NHS Ambassadors also attend school and college career fayres.
