To analyse respiration on a breath-by-breath basis the HMRU has a Cortex Metalyzer 3B. This features breath by breath and intra-breath analysis using fast response precision analysers. This device has additional support for continuous ECG, blood pressure and heart rate monitoring.
The Cortex Metalyzer 3B is used predominantly for quick measurements of resting metabolic rate, but is also capable of extensive cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Exercise equipment is available for use if required.
