Take part in research

Many departments within our hospital are involved in research studies which you may be asked to take part in. You will only be asked to take part in a research project if it is appropriate for you.

If you are asked to take part in a research study:

  • We will explain the research and what it involves
  • You will have time to think about the research and will be given the chance to ask questions before you make a decision
  • You can refuse to take part or change your mind and withdraw from the study at any time, without giving a reason and without your care being affected. You will always continue to receive the best care we are able to offer.
  • You can be sure that your dignity, rights, safety, confidentiality and well-being will always be respected

If you would like to take part in a research study please speak to a member of the clinical team at UHCW to see if there are any studies that you may able to participate in.

The UK Clinical Trials Gateway is a website developed by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) which provides information about clinical research running in the UK. You can search for research taking place in your area or for a particular condition.

We sometimes conduct research studies which require health volunteers to take part. If you are interested in taking part in a healthy volunteer study please contact us at R&D@uhcw.nhs.uk.
