In line with national programmes for clinical academic researchers, UHCW developed an approach using four main levels as set out below:
i-CAhRE Pre-Bronze – This includes identification of talented staff and supportive career discussions. Staff are supported in attending relevant opportunities within the Trust and nationally and are added to R&D newsletters and informed of any upcoming relevant opportunities.
i-CAhRE Bronze – This includes theoretical understanding for clinical research at an ‘introductory’ or pre-doctoral level to support and prepare clinical non-medical professionals to apply for a Masters in Research or similar programme. It includes a research-based learning module and real life understanding of clinical research using a portfolio assessment. Supervisors are both academic and clinical experts.
i-CAhRE Silver – This includes theoretical understanding for clinical research at a Masters pre-doctoral level to support and prepares staff during and post-qualifying in a Masters in Research or similar programme. It includes theory delivered at Coventry University or other Higher Education Institution providers (such as University of Birmingham). It includes successful completion of Masters modules and real life understanding of clinical research using an in-depth portfolio assessment. Supervisors are both academic and clinical experts.
i-CAhRE Gold – Theoretical understanding for clinical research at a PhD (Doctorate) level or Post Doctorate level. This supports and prepares clinical non-medical professionals during and post-qualifying in a PhD or post-Doctorate level. Supervisors are both academic and clinical experts.
If staff have existing PhDs, one to one mentoring is provided by Professor Jane Coad. This includes writing successful grants and project management; supervision of PhD students; supporting Gold Fellows to supervise INCA Bronze and Silver and over-seeing of quality outputs such as presentations and articles.

Please ensure you have a current blood test request form, if not please contact your hospital consultant or GP and they will post one to you. Unfortunately, your blood test will need to be rescheduled if you do not have a blood test request form when you come to a Blood Test clinic.
All blood tests are by appointment, please book an appointment using the Book Online button below.
If you have an appointment and cannot attend, please remember to cancel or reschedule your appointment so that someone else can use the time slot that you no longer need.
If you cannot book an appointment online, family and friends may be able to help – you can book appointments for more than one person from one account. Booking online is the quickest way to make an appointment.
If this is not possible, there is a telephone line for those who cannot book online. Please call 02476 153546 between 8am and 1pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.
