Care Clox app shortlisted for national award

An innovative nursing app developed by University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust has been shortlisted for a third national award.

The Care Clox app, which was developed by the ICT System Development team in partnership with Nursing colleagues, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Nursing Technology’ category of the 2017 ehi Awards. The national awards recognise innovation and achievements in healthcare technology.

The Care Clox app tracks the amount of time nurses and other frontline staff spend on tasks, to help them make sure they are spending as much time as possible on patient care, and to improve efficiency.

Nina Fraser, Chief Nursing Officer, said: “The Care Clox app is a really innovative tool that helps us to improve the way we care for our patients.

“A lot of hard work has gone into the app, and we would be so delighted if we were to win this award. However, win or lose, I’m really proud that the nursing and ICT teams who developed the app are continuing to get national recognition for their achievements.”

This is the latest success for the app, and the team behind it. Back in July, the team were shortlisted in the MidTECH category of the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN)’s second annual Celebration of Innovation awards. They were also finalists at both the Nursing Times Awards and Health Service Journal Awards last year.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Birmingham on October 31, 2017.
