Care Contact App shortlisted for national award

An innovative new nursing app developed at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) has been shortlisted for a national award.

The team behind the project has made the list of the ‘Using Technology to Improve Efficiency’ category at the Health Service Journal’s (HSJ) Value in Healthcare Awards 2016. The announcement came just days after the team were given a top UHCW award.

The team, made up of nursing and ICT staff, developed the Care Contact Time App which tracks the amount of time nurses are spending on tasks to help them make sure they are spending as much time as possible on patient care.

Karl O’Sullivan-Smith, Lead Architect, Applications, said: “It is fantastic to be shortlisted for this award and to be acknowledged for a project that we are really proud of and that can help patient care.”

Chief Nursing Officer, Mark Radford said: “The app is an excellent and innovative tool to ensure that our patients are getting the best quality care from our nurses. The team have worked incredibly hard to produce this and are getting the recognition they deserve.”

This is just the latest success for the team, after they bagged the Trust’s Outstanding Service and Care Award (OSCA) for Innovation and Service Development at the awards night on Friday, September 9.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at InterContinental O2, London on Wednesday, November 23.
