Celebrating NHS 70th

This is Caroline and Judith.

Like the NHS that turns 70 this year, the two nurses have something to celebrate.

The friends will retire on the same day next month after 40 years.

When they met as student nurses in 1978, nurses wore belts with buckles, paper hats, brown shoes and capes off duty.

Judith, Caroline and 300 others lived in the nurses’ home on the old Walsgrave Hospital site.

They qualified in 1981 and spent the majority of their successful careers caring for patients at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital.

Both have risen through the ranks, Caroline to Modern Matron and Judith as the Lead Nurse for Quality and Safety.

The dedicated pair have cared for countless patients and have enjoyed success in the nursing profession.

They plan to travel the world together as well as spending more time with friends and their families.

We wish them a very happy retirement.
