University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust has received a glowing reference from Niall Dickson, Chief Executive Officer NHS Confederation, following a visit to showcase the exciting innovation and improvements being made throughout the Trust to improve patient safety.
On a packed agenda Niall, alongside Denise Vittorino, Regional Lead (West Midlands & Derbyshire), met with Professor Andrew Hardy, Chief Executive Officer at UHCW, who explained the latest developments which have been made to improve patient safety at the Trust.
He listed avidly to presentations outlining the work being led by the Kaizen Promotion Office as part of UHCWi which is helping to establish a culture of improvement and learning across the Trust
Niall said of what he experienced: “It was evident that the culture which encourages and enables continuous improvement is well embedded and that through staff engagement you are making a difference to the patient experience in care, safety and effective discharge, along with staff development and work satisfaction.”
Andy Hardy reflected on the visit: “It was an honour to host Niall and Denise and showcase the wonderful achievement we have made as part of our journey with the Virginia Mason Institute.
“We are still early in our journey but to have valuable feedback that we are along the right path is extremely helpful and will spur us onto more improvement.
“On behalf of all of the board members and the trust I would like to thank Niall and Denise for taking the time to visit the Trust and we hope we can continue this exciting working relationship.”
