Double award nomination for Coventry Hospital Radio

A local hospital radio station has been shortlisted for two prestigious national broadcasting awards.

Coventry Hospital Radio has been nominated in the Best Newcomer and Best Male Presenter categories at this year’s National Hospital Radio Awards.

The National Hospital Radio Awards are organised by the Hospital Broadcasting Association, a national charity that supports and promotes hospital broadcasting in the UK, and recognises the best and most creative individuals and teams in hospital radio.

Presenter Marta Amado has been shortlisted for the prestigious Best Newcomer prize, awarded to those who have been in hospital radio for two years or less.

Dan Sambell has been nominated in the Best Male Presenter category at the awards for the second year running, after scooping the bronze award at last year’s event. Dan, who has been a volunteer at the station for nearly four years, said: "I am absolutely delighted to be nominated for a second year in a row for Best Male Presenter. It's a real achievement, and showcases the hard work that goes into each and every show. I'd like to thank everyone at the station for all their support."

Kristine Horne, Head of Voluntary Services said: “I’m over the moon for Marta and Dan as they both really deserve their nominations. They are part of an incredibly hardworking and dedicated team of volunteers who regularly give up their free time to entertain our patients and keep the station on air and I wish them the best of luck at the awards!”

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2017 in Bolton.
