Extended Christmas Day and Boxing Day visiting times across Trust hospitals

To help bring people together over the festive period, we are pleased to announce an extension to patient visiting times on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Friends and family can attend bedsides between 11am and 8pm at both our sites – University Hospital in Coventry and Hospital of St Cross in Rugby. Birth partners are welcome 24 hours a day as normal.  Normal visiting times – 2pm to 8pm – will resume from Wednesday 27th December.

If you plan to visit our sites over the festive period, please be advised about some changes to opening times for some of our facilities, listed below. 

Changes to opening hours to our pharmacies across our sites:

  • Lloyds Outpatient Pharmacy at University Hospital, Coventry will be open as normal on the 23rd, 27th, 28th and 30th December and will be closed on the 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st December and the 1st January.
  • The pharmacy at the Hospital of St Cross will be open on the 27th, 28th and 29th December and closed on the 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 30th and 31st December and the 1st January.

Changes to opening hours for restaurant facilities across our sites:

University Hospital, Coventry:

  • Café Qualita, located at the Women’s and Children’s entrance, will be open as normal on 27th, 28th and 29th December and will be closed on the 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 30th and 31st December and 1st January.
  • Union House, located in the main entrance opposite WH Smiths will be closed on 25th and 26th December and the 1st January and open every other day.
  • The main restaurant located behind Union House will be open throughout the festive period as normal.
  • Subway, located in the main restaurant will be closed on the 25th and 26th December and the 1st January and open all other days during the festive period.

Hospital of St Cross, Rugby:

  • Poplar’s Place will be closed on the 25th and 26th December and the 1st January and open all other days over the festive period.

Patients who will be staying at our hospital sites on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day will have free access to the bedside TVs. Speak to ward staff for further information on how you can benefit. 

Car parking will also be free at both hospitals on Christmas Day.

To help us to continue to protect our patients and staff, we ask you to not attend if you have symptoms of flu, Covid-19 or other respiratory viruses, or if you have had any diarrhoea and/or vomiting within the previous 48 hours.
