Finance Manager Reena wins top award

UHCW's Reen Mehta-Jagatia wins Student of the Year at the HFMA West MidlandsA Finance Manager at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust is celebrating after being named West Midlands Student of the Year by a leading industry body.

Reena Mehta-Jagatia was named Student of the Year by the West Midlands branch of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

It was announced Reena has won the award on Thursday, June 22, in front of an audience of regional and national colleagues at Wolverhampton Racecourse.

Reena provides finance and accounting management to a number of clinical specialties and also participates in delivering training for budget holders at the Trust who don’t have a financial background.

Reena, who has worked at UHCW for almost 4 years, said: “I was absolutely thrilled to win the Student of the Year Award from the HFMA. Everybody who works in healthcare finance knows about the HFMA, so to win the award was really special.

“It’s really pleasing to be recognised and that all my hard work and studying has paid off.”

Su Rollason, Director of Finance and Strategy, said: “We’re all exceptionally proud of Reena and her achievements. She has worked incredibly hard over the last 3 years working towards her accountancy qualifications and this award is richly deserved.”

The coveted award marks a successful 12 months for Reena, who last summer was named top in the world in her accountancy exam.
