But for patients receiving treatment at University Hospital Coventry, attending matches at the CBS Arena or travelling to away fixtures is often not possible. Thanks to Coventry Hospital Radio, however, they never have to miss a moment of the action.

Run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers, Coventry Hospital Radio provides FREE live full-match commentary of every Coventry City fixture exclusively for patients and staff across the hospital.

Whether recovering from surgery, undergoing treatment or spending time on a ward, listeners can tune in through their bedside entertainment unit and enjoy match commentary, expert analysis and all the drama of following Coventry City live.

Coventry Hospital Radio first began broadcasting Coventry City commentaries in 1972 after a patient expressed a wish to listen to a Sky Blues match from Highfield Road while in hospital. Determined to make it happen, the patient helped raise funds to install a dedicated telephone line linking Highfield Road with the old Walsgrave Hospital, allowing live commentaries to be broadcast to fellow patients.

The service continued for many years before coming to an end in 2005 when Coventry City moved from Highfield Road to the Ricoh Arena.

However, at the start of last season, Coventry Hospital Radio proudly restored live football coverage. Thanks to modern technology, support from Coventry City Football Club and the commitment of enthusiastic volunteers, the station has been able to bring the service back to its roots and once again connect patients with their local team.

Football fans can also enjoy more than just match commentary.

Popular presenters Moz Baker, Clive Brookes and Ashley Brookes host The PUSB Show, which is broadcast every Thursday from 6pm to 7.30pm and every Sunday from 7pm to 9pm. The programme looks back on recent performances, previews upcoming fixtures and features contributions from fellow hospital radio stations that follow their own local teams.

The team also welcome fans' opinions and reactions, making the show a lively platform for Coventry City supporters to discuss all the latest action.
