Hospital radio shortlisted for four national awards

Dan Sambell UHCW shortlisted for radio awardsCoventry Hospital Radio has been shortlisted for an incredible four awards at this year’s prestigious National Hospital Radio Awards 2016.

The radio station has been nominated for station promotion, best speech package, male presenter of the year and station of the year 2016.

Amongst the nominations include a radio programme that followed a hypnotism which has been shortlisted for best use of station promotion. This award recognises excellence in speech-based programming or interviewing skills.

A Committee consisting of five volunteers run Coventry Hospital Radio which broadcasts to patients at University Hospital in Coventry.

The Hospital Broadcasting Association is a national charity that supports and promotes hospital broadcasting in the UK. Each year they showcase the work of shortlisted radio stations at an awards ceremony which takes place on Saturday 19 March 2016 in Watford.

Dan Sambell who has been shortlisted for Presenter of the Year said: “We are thrilled and delighted to have our work shortlisted for in these prestigious awards and are now really looking forward to the awards ceremony in March.”

Kristine Horne, Head of Voluntary Services said: “The success of the station is down to the hard work and dedicated of a group of exceptional volunteers who give up their time freely to entertain our patients. I wish them every luck at the awards but in our eyes they are already winners.”
