Hospital Trust launches new website

Patients and visitors can expect to find information about their visit to hospital much easier thanks to a new website which is launched today (Monday 29 January).

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust have developed its new site (www.uhcw.nhs.uk) in response to feedback from patients who said the site needed to be easier to navigate to find the information they needed.   The website has been designed to give it a much cleaner and crisper appearance, making it much easier for find the information they need much more quickly.

It also boasts the ability for people to book their blood tests online at locations closer to home and it has been designed with accessibility in mind and can be easily translated into 103 languages, it is programmed so that the text can be read out loud for the visually impaired and people with some learning disabilities such as dyslexia will benefit from the ability to change the text and background colours.

The site is home to a host of information about University Hospital, Coventry and the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby including:

  • Visiting times
  • Maps
  • Information on services
  • Job vacancies
  • Dedicated section for GPs

Karen Martin, Chief Workforce and Information Officer said: “Our website was viewed nearly one million times last year so we know that it’s an important resource for patients, visitors and staff but feedback told us that it was difficult to use and information was hard to find.   The new design is much easier to navigate plus it can be viewed on smart phones and tablets which we hope will make it easier for people.”
