No Excuse for Abuse: UHCW staff share real experiences as campaign launches

Emergency Department colleagues at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust are speaking out about the abuse they face at work, as part of the launch of the Trust’s refreshed No Excuse for Abuse campaign.

Staff at UHCW have shared powerful first-hand accounts of abuse they experience while caring for patients, highlighting the reality faced by frontline NHS teams.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the impact of abuse and reinforce the Trust’s zero-tolerance approach.

Up to 100 incidents of abuse towards staff are reported each month at UHCW, underlining the scale of the issue and the importance of taking action.

A short film featuring Emergency Department colleagues has been released across social media, already generating strong engagement from both staff and the public.

Donna Griffiths, Chief People Officer at UHCW, said: “No one should come to work and face abuse.

"We are clear that this behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. We are committed to supporting staff to report incidents so that action can be taken, and we ask everyone to treat our teams with respect and kindness.”

If you experience or witness abuse, please report it. Reporting abuse helps us take action and protect our staff.

Together, we can create a safe and respectful place to work for everyone.
