Nominations open for Outstanding Service and Care Awards (OSCAs) celebrating UHCW staff

Nominations are now open for the 17th annual Outstanding Service and Care Awards (OSCAs) giving you the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to our superb staff.

The OSCAs celebrate the inspirational work of individuals and teams at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust – whether clinical, non-clinical or from our support services.

This year, we’re pleased to welcome back the People's Choice Award - a category solely for patients and members of the public to show their appreciation for the compassion and commitment shown to them whilst under our care.

Professor Andy Hardy, Chief Executive Officer at UHCW NHS Trust, said: “We have amazing staff who work across our hospitals and community settings, and they take huge pride in caring for the communities we serve. The OSCAs are your opportunity to celebrate them and give them the recognition they deserve.

“If you’ve experienced or observed great care or service by members of our staff, whether an individual or team, please do take the time to submit a nomination and tell us how they’ve helped make a difference to you or your family and loved ones.”

As well as the People’s Choice category, the Volunteers’ Award will also be open to public nominations.

Staff will be able to put forward entries in the following categories:

  • Chief Executive Award – Team
  • Leading the Way Award
  • Research and Innovation Award
  • UHCWi Improvement Award
  • Delivering Care Award
  • Supporting the Delivery of Care Award
  • Rising Star Award
  • Compassion in Action Award
  • Volunteers’ Award

Entries must describe how members of staff went that extra mile to make a positive difference to the patient experience.

UHCW has staff based at University Hospital, Coventry, the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby, Coventry Urgent Treatment Centre and out in the heart of the community.

So, if you know of staff who you believe have gone above and beyond to provide world-class patient care, have made a real difference to others and embody the Trust’s values, then please do nominate them.

We had more than 1,600 nominations for last year’s OSCAs and we’re hoping to beat that figure in 2024.

To make your nomination, please fill in a form here before 11.59pm on Sunday 11th August.

It will only take a few minutes of your time, but your submission will mean the world to the individuals and teams concerned.
