UHCW NHS Trust welcomes the public to its AGM

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust is inviting patients and members of the public to find out more about their local hospitals at its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM is due to take place in the Outpatients department at the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby from 5:30pm – 7pm on Thursday 26 July 2018.

At the meeting, the Trust, which also runs University Hospital in Coventry, will look back at some of the biggest achievements over the last year, as well as some of the challenges it faced.

The Trust Board will also look forward to the next year, and what the organisation has planned for 2018/19, including a new Complex Sleep Studies Unit on the Hospital of St Cross site, which is due to open very soon.

As always, following the review of the year there will be an open question and answer session and a chance to speak with senior staff on an individual basis.

The AGM will hear that in 2017/18:

  • While the organisation continues to face challenges, significant progress is now being made towards improving performance.

  • The Trust is now over half way through its five-year partnership with the prestigious Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle.  This partnership has led to the creation of the Trust’s UHCW Improvement System, UHCWi, which is being used to make improvements to patient safety and care.

  • The Emergency Department team was awarded ‘Emergency Medicine Training Department of the year’ at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine annual awards.

  • A new Involvement Hub was opened in the main reception of University Hospital to make it easier for patients to tell the Trust about their care.

Professor Andy Hardy, Chief Executive Officer, said:

“I look forward to meeting with patients and members of the public at our AGM, and updating them on some of the achievements over the last year.

“While we have continued to face challenges, our staff have shown a commitment to delivering world-class care and improving the experience for all our patients.”
