Recognise and reward our amazing staff with a new Making a Difference Award

Patients and relatives are being given a new way to honour NHS staff who go above and beyond the call of duty.

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust has launched its Making a Difference Awards.

Members of the public will be able to submit entries thanking individuals or teams – whether clinical, non-clinical or from our support services – who demonstrated enthusiasm, expertise and empathy to deliver the highest standards of care.

Independent staff judging panels will judge submissions against each of the Trust values – learn, improve, compassion, openness, pride, respect and partnership.

Tying in with the popular Proud to Make a Difference campaign, which shares stories of why staff are proud to work for the Trust, there will be up to seven monthly winners.

Professor Andy Hardy, UHCW NHS Trust Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are proud of the achievements of everyone across Team UHCW and believe there is always something to celebrate.

“The Making a Difference Awards will become our monthly award scheme to recognise those who go above and beyond to enhance the experience of patients and make a difference to our communities and/or colleagues.

“If you know someone who shines brightly, please take a few moments to nominate them. It may be a small gesture but it will mean so much.”

The Making a Difference Awards, sponsored by UHCW Charity, sit alongside other recognition schemes such as appreciation cards, Service Awards, the DAISY Awards for midwives and nurses and the annual Outstanding Service and Care Awards (OSCAs).

Every nominee will receive a certificate containing their full nomination and the first winner(s) will be announced in February.
