Reena's at the top of the world

A Finance Assistant at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) is celebrating after being named the top in the world in an accountancy exam.

Reena Mehta-Jagatia, who provides finance and accounting support to a number of clinical groups as well as training non-finance colleagues in budget holding, is studying for her Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification.

Reena finished joint first in the world with 84% in the June sitting of the ACCA P2 Paper – Corporate Reporting. There were approximately 18,000 entrants worldwide for the June paper, making her achievement even more impressive. Reena will also be presented with a special ACCA Global Prize-Winner award to mark her success.

Reena is one of seven members of the Finance team who are currently studying towards professional qualifications, either with the ACCA, or with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Reena Mehta-Jagatia, Group Finance Assistant, said:
“I was delighted to receive my results for the June paper, but I couldn’t believe it when I was then told I had the joint highest score in the world.

“It’s my ambition to become a qualified accountant, and take the next step in my career, and so this is fantastic news, although I’m not being complacent.

“I’m currently studying hard to complete the qualification and I’m really grateful to UHCW for supporting my development, and to the training provider, HTFT, who have been so helpful to me.”

Professor Andy Hardy, Chief Executive Officer at UHCW NHS Trust said:
“At UHCW, we’re all so proud of Reena for getting the joint highest result in the world in her ACCA paper.

“As an accountant myself, I know just how tough these exams are, and so to be named top out of 18,000 people is incredible.

“We’re aiming to be a leading training and education centre, and as part of this we’re committed to providing world-class training opportunities for our staff. It’s fantastic to see world-class scholars like Reena doing so well.”
