Road lay out complete at University Hospital

The road lay out changes at University Hospital have now been completed and will move onto the next stage later this year.

The works have improved the traffic flow on site by changing car park barrier entrances in order to make it more seamless to access car parking, and also the new bus interchange which now has doubled its capacity and provides shelter for bus users. This was coupled with Coventry City Council’s ‘Pinchpoint Works’ on Clifford Bridge Road.

This has seen less traffic queuing around the site in rush hour times.

The second phase involves building two decks above the current car parks outside the Arden Cancer Centre, and above the car park next to the Trust’s Facilities Management building which will add extra spaces to the hospital site.

Director of Estates, Lincoln Dawkin, said: “We are really pleased with the improvements that have been made to the site, and we have noticed an improvement of traffic flow getting on and off the site.

“We would like to ask for patience while we complete the second phase of our plan which is to build two decked car parks, which will add around 250 extra spaces and ask that people consider alternative transport options to travel to the hospital.”
