Road resurfacing taking place across University Hospital site

Patients, visitors and staff are being advised to allow extra time when travelling to University Hospital (UH) over the coming weeks, as essential resurfacing works take place.

The work, running throughout May and June, will improve roads and parking areas across the site, helping to make access safer and smoother for everyone.

While all services will remain open as normal, there will be temporary changes to parking and access routes at different points during the programme.

Changes this weekend

The most significant change will take place over the May bank holiday weekend.

Car Park 5 will remain open for visitors, with access via an alternative entrance. Staff will be required to use alternative parking during this time.

Traffic marshals and signage will be in place to help guide drivers.

What to expect over the coming weeks

Across May and June, visitors may notice:

  • Temporary lane closures on key routes, including the main entrance and ambulance access roadway
  • Some works taking place overnight to minimise disruption
  • Short-term changes to access near A&E and internal roads
  • Occasional delays when travelling through the site

Emergency access routes will be maintained at all times.

Advice for patients and visitors

Anyone visiting the hospital is advised to:

  • Allow extra time for their journey
  • Check the latest travel map before setting off
  • Follow signage and traffic marshal guidance on arrival

These improvements form part of ongoing work to maintain and enhance the hospital environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Thank you for your patience while these works are carried out.
