Senior Resus Trauma Practitioner Yasmin on top of the world after bodybuilding success

Dedication to dumbbells has paid off for Senior Resus Trauma Practitioner Yasmin Hodge after she lifted a world bodybuilding title.

Yasmin, who works in the Emergency Department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust, claimed the crown in Manchester.

Her run of success began in the NBW Classic run by the United Kingdom Drug Free Bodybuilding Association (UKDFBA).

The 27-year-old won the open bikini short class before securing the overall trophy by defeating the winners in the other categories.

Those victories qualified her for the World Championships, where she dazzled judges with her perfect physique.

“To place first in a World Championships was incredible,” said Yasmin. “It’s taken a while to sink in.

“When I’ve come to work ‘people have been saying we’ve got a world champion in the room’ and it sounds so crazy!

“I was just happy to be there on stage with other people who were the best in their class around the world, that was always going to be something special.

“It’s not been easy balancing a demanding passion with my job, so I’m really proud of what I have achieved.”

Competitors are judged on the way they look, their poses and the definition and symmetry of their muscles.

Yasmin was a keen runner but switched to the weights after the pandemic when she joined the Future Fitness gym and hired a coach.

“I’ll train for two days and then have a rest day,” added Yasmin, who has to follow a strict diet during competition season.

“If it falls on working days then I just juggle my meals to ensure I have enough food throughout my shift.

“It’s a little bit different when I’m on nights. But the gym is my outlet, the place I go to clear my head and see familiar faces. Sitting in front of the TV has never worked for me!”

Yasmin’s success means she has qualified for the British Championships, the European Championships in Germany and Natural Olympia in Las Vegas, although whether she attends any or all of the competitions will depend on work commitments.
