Andy Meehan, Chairman of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust, has paid tribute to one of the Trust's Non-Executive Directors, Professor Sudhesh Kumar, who has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Professor Kumar has been awarded the honour for his fantastic contribution and commitment to the public sector.
As well as being a Non-Executive Director for UHCW since 2016, Professor Kumar is Dean of the Warwick Medical School and Director of the Institute of Digital Healthcare at University of Warwick, he previously worked as a Clinical Endocrinologist and has 22 years’ experience as a Consultant Physician in the NHS.
Reflecting on his achievement, Professor Kumar said: "I feel lucky and privileged to work in organisations where it is a joy to help many amazing colleagues do amazing work every day.
"This award to me also reflects positively on all those talented and hardworking people."
Andy Meehan congratulated Professor Kumar on his honour. He said: “Everybody at the Trust is absolutely delighted and incredibly proud of Professor Kumar.
“He is vastly experienced and throughout his 22 years’ as a Consultant Physician in the NHS his research interest into obesity and its complications, particularly Type 2 diabetes, have made a huge difference to countless people.
“As a Non-Executive Director he is completely dedicated to helping the people of Coventry and Warwickshire by helping to guide the strategy of the Trust to provide the best possible patient care that we can.”
