UHCW is proud to have been successfully re-certified as a 'Centre of Excellence (CoE)' for Gastro-entero-pancreatic (GEP) Neuroendocrine Services by the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (ENETS).
The Trust is also delighted to have been newly certified as a CoE for Lung Neuroendocrine Tumours. Both of these accreditations highlight prestigious services and establish UHCW as a leading Trust in treatment for patients in these areas.
Having been first certified as a ENETS CoE in 2015, the team have now cemented their status for the next five years.
"We are elated that we have made incredible progression with our service as a Trust," explained Professor Martin Weickert who has helped to establish this nationally leading service.
“This is an multidisciplinary effort and we keep on receiving significant support for our services from all the involved Specialities and the Trust management teams.“
Weekly run NET Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) at UHCW have been proactive in implementing new regimes and treatments in order to optimise both efficiency as a team and patient care.
Over the years, the team have worked extremely hard to get to where they are, and with the help of their core partners within the Trust, have been rewarded with this fantastic achievement.
Professor Weickert added: "The teams’ aspirations for the future are to expand due to the highly sought-after NET services at UHCW and keep on driving clinically relevant, NET related research.
"The NET Team would like to thank senior managers and core partners for their unwavering support and contributions which have enabled them to be where they are today."

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON BLOOD TESTING DUE TO COVID-19
Shielding Patients in very high risk for COVID Group
All people who have been identified as very high risk (requiring shielding) for COVID are in the process of being contacted by their clinician regarding their ongoing care. If you require a blood test whilst shielding as part of your care, appointment details including when and where your blood test will be carried out will be sent to you via a text message from SwiftQueue who manage our blood test bookings.
If you have regular blood tests and have been asked to have these, please ensure you have blood forms at home available; if you haven’t please contact your specialty to have some sent to you in advance of your blood tests.
Older People and Vulnerable Adults
People who are in the groups identified by the government as higher risk e.g are over 70 or receive a yearly flu jab, but are not in the very high risk (requiring shielding) group, can attend our normal blood test clinics.
