Wendy up for international award

A specialist nurse at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) has been shortlisted for an international award for looking after the wellbeing of patients.

Wendy Trodden, Tissue Viability Assistant Practitioner, has been shortlisted for the Patient Wellbeing Award in the Journal of Wound Care (JWC) Awards 2016, in recognition of her excellent wound dressings for patients undergoing radiotherapy treatments.

Radiation Therapy Manager, Linda Farthing said: “Wendy’s passion for dressings and wound care ensures that she is always looking to try something unique, adapt the tried and tested for new applications. And the patients love her for it!”

Wendy said: “Wow –I really didn’t expect this; just to be shortlisted is wonderful.

“I see patients with all different wounds which can be quite uncomfortable for them. I work with the patient to create a dressing with the full range of supplies available to make them more comfortable.”

The JWC Awards recognise individuals and teams who have excelled in wound care.

Wendy was nominated for the award as a result of making a significant difference to the experience of patients who attend radiotherapy treatments at the Arden Cancer Centre.

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on March 4 at the Banking Hall in London.
