University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is committed to ensuring that our members of staff feel fully supported, safe and happy whilst at work.
The development of specific staff networks allows us to address and solve problems for underrespresented groups and invididuals throughout the Trust.
We currently have three staff networks:
Staff networks allow our staff to come together, share their experiences and facilitate further learning and development. They assist in the shaping and delivery of Trust-wide strategies and policies, ensuring that all voices are heard.
The UHCW Pride Network was created as a driving-force for change, to ensure a supportive working environment for all LGBTQ+ staff / volunteers and to further encourage those within the organisation to understand and support the needs of LGBTQ+ patients and communities. The network acts as a safe-space and trusted point of contact for all LGBTQ+ staff / volunteers, and celebrates UHCW’s diverse workforce by participating in national and local events.
With monthly in-person meetings held within the Clinical Sciences Building, any and all members of staff / volunteers within the Trust are welcome to attend to get involved with discussions and events. Whilst the network exists to provide a platform for LGBTQ+ voices, we value the input and support of allies who are welcomed as guests. Attendance at the UHCW Pride Network is strictly confidential, and records of members are accessible only to the Network Leadership Team.
The network has a Code of Conduct in place so that all members are aware of the importance of privacy, and any personal discussions had during meetings aren't shared elsewhere without explicit permission from all of those who are mentioned or involved.
The SPOC network provides a platform and supports all People of Colour (POC) to share their view and experiences, both positive and negative, of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
With 23.9% of UHCW NHS Trust's workforce identified as POC (based on WRES Data as of 31st March 2019), the SPOC Network welcomes all POC staff to join in supporting aims to improve experiences, opportunities and outcomes of all members and the wider POC community throughout the Trust.
As well as acting as a resource for all UHCW NHS Trust staff to gain further insight on POC issues, the network aims to facilitate opportunities for peer support, mentoring, information sharing and personal and professional development amongst POC staff.
The Disability and Wellbeing Network works to create a disability-positive culture throughout University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, enabling disabled members of staff to speak openly about their disability and any challenges they may face.
As well as supporting members to complete their job to the best of their ability and feel valued for the skills that they bring to their roles, DAWN also works in partnership with UHCW NHS Trust to ensure that policies and procedures are carried out with accessibility in mind.
