Annual Report

Our annual report covers a 12 month period and includes financial information plus a summary of our achievements from April one year to March the next.

The report also outlines our ongoing and planned developments and objectives for the year ahead.

Annual Report 2024/25

Annual audit

An Auditor Panel established by our Trust Board recommended the appointment of KPMG LLP as external auditors to the Trust until 2027, an extension to the original contract which was approved on 2 April 2025.

The final opinion on the financial statements issued by our external auditors can be found in the annual report and accounts, which is available here.

Quality Account

The Quality Account is an annual report that summarises how the Trust is working to improve the quality of its services, the progress we have made and our priorities for the coming year.

For 2023/2024 the Board has decided that our quality improvement priorities are:

Category Quality Priority
Patient Safety Improve how we investigate and learn from patient safety incidents including implementing new approaches for investigations such as after action reviews, recruiting patient safety partners and using our data better.
Clinical Effectiveness Further improve our processes in implementing best practice such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance and our processes around timely review of all deaths in hospital.
Patient Experience Improve how we communicate with our patients by co-designing a Patient Portal improving our telephony response and our care environment through developing our plans for a bereavement suite.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Annual Report

UHCW works hard to ensure that infections are kept to a minimum. As part of this work, the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) produces an annual report on the work that has been done within the Trust to prevent infections in our hospitals.This report is presented to and approved by Trust Board.
