Annual Report

Our annual report covers a 12 month period and includes financial information plus a summary of our achievements from April one year to March the next.

The report also outlines our ongoing and planned developments and objectives for the year ahead.

Annual audit

An Auditor Panel established by our Trust Board recommended the appointment of KPMG LLP as external auditors to the Trust until 2027, an extension to the original contract which was approved on 2 April 2025.

The final opinion on the financial statements issued by our external auditors can be found in the annual report and accounts, which is available here.

Quality Account

The Quality Account is an annual report that summarises how the Trust is working to improve the quality of its services, the progress we have made and our priorities for the coming year.

For 2026/2027 the Board has decided that our quality improvement priorities are:

Category	Quality Priority
Patient Safety	Build Leadership capacity and capability for continuous improvement across all teams. Review how clinical teams work together with patients and families to better deliver personalised care. Learn and improve patient safety through the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
Clinical Effectiveness	Establish quality dashboards to capture progress against such frameworks as Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT). Review and embed learning from local and national LeDeR reports for continuous improvement. Ensure services are developed according to best practice guidance available.
Patient Experience	Provide diagnostics ‘close to Home’ to widen access within the local community. Improve how we communicate with our patients, families and carers, ensuring that we are responsive. Review systems and processes for responding to patient queries and concerns in ‘real time’ to improve care experience.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Annual Report

UHCW works hard to ensure that infections are kept to a minimum. As part of this work, the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) produces an annual report on the work that has been done within the Trust to prevent infections in our hospitals.This report is presented to and approved by Trust Board.
