This ground breaking programme, sees the USA’s ‘Hospital of the Decade’, Virginia Mason, forming a unique partnership with NHS Improvement and five NHS Trusts over five years to support improvements in patient care.
Virginia Mason Institute, known for helping health care organisations around the world create and sustain a ‘lean’ culture of continuous improvement, are working alongside; University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust; The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust; Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust; The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
Over the course of the five years, leaders and clinicians from across the five Trusts will receive a wide range of tools and hands on support, including coaching and mentoring as well as education and certification in lean techniques. Over time the Trusts will be able to train their own staff to help create a sustainable culture of continuous improvement.
At the core of the partnership is a commitment for the Trusts to share learning and experience with each other as well as the wider NHS, to help drive improvements further and faster.
