Anyone can experience problems relating to continence and sexual function, at any stage of life, and they are certainly more common than you think.

Seeking advice and treatment can be quite embarrassing, but the most important thing to remember is that everyone can be helped to manage, or even cured of, a condition with discretion and in complete confidence.

There are many reasons why a bladder or bowel may leak or be hard to control. These include: problems with pelvic floor, overactivity of the bladder and/or bowel itself, diet and lifestyle choices, trauma etc.

Treatment of your symptoms will depend on the type of problem you have and the findings from your individual assessment. Treatments may include advice on diet, fluid intake, bladder retraining and exercise programmes as well as other medical treatment and specialist equipment.

The main thing to remember is that bladder and bowel problems can be managed or cured. Problems should not be put down to age, such as getting older, or circumstance, such as giving birth, and there is no need for you to suffer in silence.

At the City of Coventry Health Centre, our Specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapists are here to help with problems such as stress incontinence, urinary urgency, urinary frequency, bowel issues, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, female sexual dysfunction, and pregnancy related pain

We are a team of specialised physiotherapists with extensive experience and post graduate training in women's health and pelvic health disorders.
