    Mr Matharu qualified from the University of Bristol with distinctions and a 1st class honours degree in Pharmacology. Following full registration he commenced surgical training as a tutor at the University of Cambridge and basic surgical training at Bristol. He undertook higher surgical training in the West Midlands and a PhD at the University of Birmingham as BHF junior clinical fellow. His research interests based on this work include the inflammatory response of endothelial cells to altered shear stress.

    He was awarded the Vascular Society Fellowship to train in complex endovascular surgery which he undertook at Guy’s and St.Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust 2011-2012.
