Our purpose-built ED at University Hospital in Coventry is a Level One Major Trauma Centre and currently sees in excess of 160,000 patients every year, so we can be very busy at peak times.

We are committed to the delivery of world-class care for our patients, and we hope you will be reasured to know that if you need to use our service that we are one of the highest performing Major Trauma Centres in the UK. Data from Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARN) has shown that in 2016, UHCW was one of the top five centres nationally for survival outcomes. We were also named as the busiest adult MTC in the country.
We are also very proud of our Urgent Care Centre at the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby. This is a nurse led service for patients over the age of 5 years, offering fast access to treatment for less severe illnesses and injuries.

Referrals for blood tests can be from GP's, practice nurses or from hospital consultants. Patients are also able to leave other samples, such as urine, which have been collected at home, at the hospital's Pathology Reception.
