Our staff pledge to provide a restful environment at night by:
  • Being sensitive to patients who need time to rest and recover.
  • Encouraging patients to turn devices off or on silent mode.
  • Having conversations with colleagues away from patients whenever they can.
  • Wearing soft soled shoes.
  • Closing doors and bins softly.
  • Answering call bells, alarms, and telephones as quickly as possible.
  • Dimming the lights or switching them off if they are not needed.
  • Performing patient observation checks only when necessary.
As a patient, you can pledge to help provide a restful environment at night by:
  • Being sensitive to other patients who need time to rest and recover just as much as you do.
  • Turning your devices off or to silent mode.
  • Using headphones if you want to watch or listen to something on a device.
  • Speaking quietly to family and staff.
  • Dimming your bedside light or switching it off if you are not using it.
  • Closing bins and doors softly.
