The multi-displinary team performs over 350,000 examinations a year at University Hospital in Coventry, the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby and the City of Coventry Health Centre.
The department is committed to the provision of state of the art imaging technologies and constantly evolving techniques. This enables us to offer a high quality level of patient service and care.
Your doctor will be able to advise you on whether you will need an appointment or not. If you need to prepare in some way before you come for your test a leaflet will be sent to you along with your appointment letter. Please read this leaflet carefully.
The Radiology Department at University Hospital, Coventry is located in the main hospital building, on the ground floor. The Radiology Department at the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby is located on the ground floor of the Withybrook wing.
All examinations require an appointment. Walk-in access is only available for the following examinations:
University Hospital (Urgent, Plain film chest x-rays and suspected fractures ONLY)
Hospital of St Cross (Urgent, Plain film chest x-rays and suspected fractures ONLY)
Walk-in access times at both sites are: 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). If you are unsure whether your investigation is eligible for walk-in access, please telephone 02476 966331.

Examinations are also undertaken at the City of Coventry Health Centre (CoCHC) by appointment. If you would like an appointment at the City of Coventry Health Centre please ask your GP to include this on your request.

If you are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, e.g. fever, loss of taste or continuous new cough, please DO NOT attend for a blood test.

Booking an appointment helps patients, their carers and family members to plan their hospital visit better, helping to reduce clinic waiting times and enabling patients to be seen much more quickly.

Please book an appointment before attending for a blood test, click on the ‘Book Online’ button above. Patients from Rugby and the surrounding areas are able to access the Friends Blood Taking Unit at the Hospital of St Cross.
Referrals for blood tests can be from GP's, practice nurses or from hospital consultants. Patients are also able to leave other samples, such as urine, which have been collected at home, at the hospital's Pathology Reception.
