If you think you need medical help right now, 111 online can tell you what to do next.
International doctors applying for jobs and preparing for the PLAB2 examinations or medical students during their penultimate year in medicine may find it useful to undertake a clinical attachment. This is a non-paid, non-contact observership.
Clinical attachments provide invaluable experience of the NHS, and can help overseas doctors gain a reference for future job applications. Doctors do not need to be GMC registered to undergo a clinical attachment as they will not be carrying out any procedures. Usually, clinical attachments are only offered for a period of 4-6 weeks maximum, subject to evaluation of the supervising consultant.
In order to be considered for a clinical attachment, you must seek acceptance for your placement from the supervising consultant from within your speciality interest.
